How to Use the Holidays to Prepare for the Next Semester

There isn’t a single teacher out there, even the most amazing ones, who hasn’t felt that this semester wasn’t perfect, but there’s always room for improvement and you can start right now by doing the following simple, yet effective steps:

Quality Time

- RELAX HARD during your holidays to recharge for the upcoming semester.

- Have quality time with your friends and family to make up for the long hours of work during the last semester.

Reflection and Action

- Take 2-3 days before the semester starts to reflect upon your performance and how to have better plans and better time management

- Start the semester by involving your students in your development by asking them what went well the last semester and what didn’t so you can work on it in this one.

- Model the reflective approach to them by explaining how you reflected upon your work and how you plan to make it better. This goes a long way in building bridges of trust and channels of communication with your students.

You Got This!

- You have a lot of experience now to plan better lessons for the upcoming semester. You know which apps your students like, which activities they prefer and how to incorporate learning in all of this. USE IT! Don’t throw it behind your back just because you felt terrible going through it.

And finally, always keep a growth mindset towards your teaching. We’re all learners no matter how old we get.
