Level 7 Certificate in Education

The OFqual regulated LRN Level 7 Certificate in Education (PGCE) is designed to enable candidates – with sufficient teaching/lecturing experience – the opportunity to demonstrate their ability across a broad range of advanced pedagogical approaches to learning.

Course Goals

Objectives


1. Understand the historical, philosophical and cultural context of education.

2. Understand key concepts, values and beliefs related to education and educational practice.

3. Understand key theories of education and learning and how these are realised in practical pedagogy.

4. Understand how educational theory aligns with teaching delivery.

5. Understand the relationship between teaching, learning and assessment.

6. Be able to demonstrate a practical application of effective teaching delivery

7. Understand the purpose of teaching pedagogy and teaching andragogy

8. Understand current educational theories of teaching and learning

9. Be able to demonstrate a practical application of contemporary teaching in higher and professional education.

Duration and Delivery

Entry Requirements


  • 12-18 months

  • Blended Delivery (ONLINE and Face to Face sessions)


  • An accredited Bachelor degree (Extensive professional experience may also be considered in exceptional cases).

  • Official transcripts (In English) from all universities, colleges and other post-secondary educational institutions attended.

  • English Proficiency: IELTS (Academic) with an overall score of at least 6.0 or equivalent English language qualifications.

  • Personal Statement (minimum 500 words) explaining how the programme of study will benefit the student’s career progression.

  • Up to date Resume

  • Two references (academic or professional) listed on resume stating referee’s full name, contact details, and relationship to the applicant.

  • Applicants must be in a current relevant role, with access to an appropriate classroom or education setting.  Therefore, an official confirmation letter from the current employer confirming that the applicant is currently deployed in a teaching position/role is required.

  • Applications from non-standard applicants are welcome and will be considered individually.
